Welcome to Free Ride. We are a charitable bike workshop and membership programme based in Te Awa Kairangi ki Tai - Lower Hutt, NZ. We are a volunteer organisation.
We provide a range of free services, subsidised bike services and paid services. Please see our event listings and opening hours.

Join us for our Beginner Bike Maintenance Course, a relaxed and practical two-week series designed to teach the basics. We recommend attending both sessions to build your skills but you can sign up separately for one or the other if you wish to.


12 Sept 2026, 10:00 am – 2:00 pmJoin us for a day of bike fun! Bring your bikes down to our Daly Street site at Te Tōpūnga Hapori i Daly Street. We'll have instructors on hand to give some bike riding tips, obstacle courses and of course the Pump track. Our Mechanics will be there to check bikes and do minor repairs.

This is an intermediate level ride (due to distance) and is best suited to capable riders and those who have completed a shorter ride with us already. It will include some road riding, river trail and further distance. Tickets are free, but a booking is required.
